Unique and diverse habitat
The exceptional natural environment of the Cortijo de las Piletas allows our guests to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Natural Park and its fauna and flora. We will offer books, videos, CD and binoculars for identifying flowers, footprints, songs, flights, nests, dens, protected species, medicinal plants, etc. Our interest is in making accessible all of the ecological wealth of the area, with special attention to the unique variety of birds.

Birdwatching

The Park of Grazalema is declared a Reserve of the Biosphere by UNESCO and a Zone for Special Protection of Birds (ZEPA). The variety of migratory birds and especially those of prey – eagles, falcons, owls or vultures - makes this area of special and unique interest for birders. We highly reccomend to contact Peter Jones, an expert in natural history (and who is in love with this area and its birds) and he will collect you from here at 10:00h. and take you for a personalized guided tour until 4p.m. www.spanishbirds.com

Walking
Throughout the mountains of Ronda and the Grazalema Park, an extensive network of signed pathways allows for hiking through gorgeous landscapes of great environmental value: on foot, by mountain bike or on horse. We offer all the necessary information and, if you would like, we will gladly get you in touch with an expert guide for walking or agencies for organized activities: hot air balloon rides, horse-riding, mountain-bikes, canoeing, etc.

Ronda and its mountains
The legendary city of Ronda is only 12km from us: the mysterious streets of the old city, the monuments and the cliff of 100 meters are all must-sees. The mountains around offer very special places such as the Genal Valley -with its craggy mountains and chestnuts woods-, the White Villages –more than 25 examples of Andalusian simplicity, beauty and joy-, or the Pileta Cave -with prehistoric paintings. We offer all the necessary information to enjoy these routes and more.

Thanks to the Cortijo de las Piletas’s central location in Andalusia, our guests can comfortably and easily access the Costa del Sol - 50km away, specially attractive for sea and golf lovers-, cities such us Sevilla, Malaga, Jerez, Granada, Cordoba Cadiz or Gibraltar -all within a two hours drive- and many other places of great natural value.
