AT HOME

If you wish to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday in the countryside, far away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, Cortijo las Piletas is your perfect hotel; we offer you a fantastic swimming pool, a terrace in front of each room, bird watching possibilities (as we are surrounded by nature you can enjoy different kinds of raptors, Golden orioles, European bee-eaters, etc. from our house), walks within and in the surroundings of our property, a well-equipped library, a living room with an open fire for the colder nights, a TV-room, board games, various places to relax in our gardens and of course our self-service “Honesty Bar”, where you can find a nice selection of wines. You may also enjoy a pleasant evening meal at the end of your day.

SURROUNDING AREA

Within 12 km from our hotel and by an excellent road you will reach RONDA, one of the most beautiful cities of Andalucia; you will easily enjoy it´s beauty and history while staying in the peace and quiet of the countryside. From our hotel you can easily visit all the White Villages (Grazalema, Zahara de la Sierra, Olvera, Montejaque, Setenil de las Bodegas, theGenal Valley, the Pileta cave, the roman ruins of Acinipo ), or go hiking in one of the three Nature Parks (Grazalema, Alcornocales and Sierra de las Nieves). We offer you a wide range of guidebooks, the possibility to organize a professionally guided tour, as well as our advice concerning the most suitable routes and walks.

In these magnificent surroundings, we also have the privilege to have a specially protected area for birds (ZEPA). As we are located in the European-African migration corridor and have a lot of ecological niches, high rocks, pastures, wetlands, big forests, etc., it is possible to watch a wide range of birds. Either you can do this on your own with our advice and our information materials or on a guided tour, which we can organize for you. For the same reason, this region is also rich in botany, orchids, daffodils and more, as well as very special plants like the Spanish fir (pinsapo).
Another interesting activity is OENOLOGY. In the neighbourhood of Ronda you can find a great variety of small “bodegas” (wineries), where they are nowadays producing high quality wine; many of those wineries can be visited and you can have a taste of the excellent wines, which are nowadays prizewinning in Spain as well as internationally.

Other outdoors common activities are cycling or mountain biking, horse riding, canyoning, kayaking, paragliding, climbing, speleology, etc… All of these activities are organized by high standard tourism companies and we can book them for you at the hotel, adapting them at your needs, concerning your experience and time.
Apart from that we´d love to mention the livestock farming of bulls and horses, which you can visit during a guided tour to learn more about this very special world of the Spanish fighting bull and the magnificent Andalusian horse.
